I keep my sobriety by giving it away right here on my channel, through sharing my experience, strength and hope.
But what happens when you put the drink down?
How do you rebuild your life?
If you're anything like I was, you'll find yourself feeling lost, directionless, emotional, and downright scared. My channel is about how I found peace, serenity and my purpose after putting down the alcohol in 2005 at the age of 33.
If you'd like to get more info on how I achieve this, check out this link:

Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail - That Old Chestnut!
I spent a beautiful week in the house just as you drove into Corrie (before the left turn off the main road). And what a magical time we had on Arran. We also summited Goatfell from Corrie and only saw one other person.
I think it is wonderful! Great job! Thank you!
Ah, those gardeners are more of a curse than a blessing!
This happened me yesterday I was looking forward to sitting in the sun in the peace and quiet and what happens the neighbours start strimming 🙄some days I wish I lived in the middle of a field isolated lol 😮
Accepting that you can do better is a good start to doing better. Also, well done for keeping of the splosh for 18 years. That is one hell of an achievement!!
Seneca, you and I are in agreement. Elderly and slow go together in the case of Bassett Hiunds. Just ask Steve Donoghue. Never mind, better slow than the alternative. It's the one drawback with pets, they don't outlive us.
As an atheist, aa was heavily damaging! Have you read the sexist chapter about the wives???? A higher power was the professional ppl that guided me through my childhood trauma! That cannot be prayed away! And guess what!? I took my power back!! This cult just has you repeating all 12 steps making you feel powerless for eternity!! I became sober and stayed sober inspite this out dated disgusting book being crammed down my throat!! Plus Bill W transferred his addiction to womanizing and cigarettes!! He died from lung disease directly from his smoking….AND on his deathbed he cried out for alcohol!!! I’ll say it again, this book helps addiction as much as conversation camps help gay ppl
Champ, videos on the fly out and about in Scotland are great.
Would you like some ice cream dear? 😂
Nom
You have a busy schedule Cams, I missed your Daily Stoic readings. I have the book but look forward to your interpretations.
Thanks Stephen
Cams, where are you mate? Keep this series going!
Uploading now. Thanks for the kick up the arse!
Thanks for these pithy and powerful videos
Please move on to the other steps
I remember telling my mother around 21-22 years old that "I didn't think alcoholic's where real, they where weak men", and she yelling at me in away that she never had before, I didn't know that her father my grandfather was a alcoholic at the time, and my grandpa was a absolute bull of a a man he had 6 children 1 son and 5 daughters he kept them alive by paving the freeways of America and would shoot a deer every fall without fail to feed them. he was a man of granite as far as I was concerned who I had no idea struggled with alcoholism every day, to this day I feel dumb for saying that, because that's who I became.
I've often wondered if AA even exist in the UK because Alcoholic behavior is so excepted and even considered "cultural" across the pond. Brits often make fun of Americans for having strange a relationship with Alcohol because we binge drink in our 20s then become nearly "sober" in our 30s, My question is how do you continue that lifestyle for your entire life while having several kids and having to make a living.
Thanks brother Cams. 🙏🏽
I doubt the author intended the story to offer a message of hope, so I agree with your professor. Although the last interactions between the condemned do show some care, solidarity and affection. Maybe, however, we have a duty to give the story a message of potential hope and redemption. It is so dark and bleak if we do not. Your personal anecdote around your involvement with the story is touching and endearing. It would be dreadful for a young reader to embrace the kind of nihilism that some of the characters display.
This is a good one my friend. In the end, we are invited to the lodge. A big lodge. It doesn’t matter if it covered in buffalo skins or bricks with a ruler and compass at the entrance. No one needs to be a member or know secret handshakes. There’s no sponsors, chiefs, apprentices, or masters. Hopefully we’ll smoke from the same pipe and tell good stories. Until then, we will struggle. Especially if we want to do well and succeed. Selflessness is the only solution. Taking guys through the book, guiding that young man in a temple meeting, and worshipping the creator. I could shade my eyes with my hand and look far and long and see these things will never change. Lord have mercy. -redraven-
Thank you for posting this.
Great cover
I also like to meditate in the sauna 😅
Hi Cams, I’ve been subscribed to your Booktube channel for a while now & I truly love your content over there & on Substack/Storygraph. Since the beginning I’ve always found you comforting since you are the same age as my Dad was/would have been - I headed over to this channel to see whats what over here & have come across this video. My Dad’s name was David Jenkins. This clip is beautiful & I truly feel like he’s sent me down this rabbit hole of your content to find it. So thank you! Thank you for posting all these years so that 6 months after losing my Dad he can say hi to me through moments like this ❤
Thanks for the lovely words Alisha. Thank you for sharing your precious memories. <3
Love it..... I think you should improve title, add end screen and add more ranking tags (According to your Content) on video tag section. Also need to share your video on different social media sites. Then your videos can easily reach out to your lovely audience...Your dedication and video concept for your channel are truly impressive.you're doing quite well. However, your content is not reaching the desired number of viewers....I believe that by doing so, all your needs will be met..,.And all the best for your journey on youtube......
Brilliant
Is there any wY to contact you
Hi cam thanks
Good goin Cams..made me smile after a tough day emotionally(alcoholic family dynamics came up 💔)
Very nice! Thanks
Where's your latest brother?
Thanks for the kick up the arse!
Patience-- try to let them be- they are usually suffering more than me. Thank you for all you do on this channel.
Thank you Cam, great wisdom
cultism without any of the real kool stuff
You've filled in the gaps and said what I'm going through. After a year im still cutting down... Controversial I know. A couple of things have happened recently to make me speed the process along. I'm coming up on 7 months free of amphetamines too. ODAAT
Just found your channel and I use it as a 'forcing function' to read along in my copy of the Daily Stoic and enjoy your ponderings. Ryan Holiday comments on this passage by stating:"..the fact that you are able to reason in and out of situations - ... is what gives you the ability to improve your circumstances and become better". I would say: "Keep pondering".
Thank you for what you do-nicely done
'Of alcoholics who came to AA and really tried, 50% got sober at once and remained that way; 25% sobered up after some relapses and among the remainder, those who stayed on with AA showed improvement.' From the book, 'Alcoholics Anonymous.' Foreword to second edition.
AA Tradition 11: '.. Our names and pictures as AA members ought not be broadcast, filmed or publicly printed. Our public relations should be guided by the principle of attraction rather than promotion.' Read this in a book.
I was today years old when I found your channel & I appreciate you!
Thank you!
Thanks Cams, please keep doing these vids. They are great and I need them.
Glad you like them! Thanks for the kind words.
Wow...this was just what I needed....so much honesty....when we use sugar we are self harming and setting up cravings!
Glad it was helpful!
Yeah!
Awesome! Being warm is important. Take care!
Yes!
Can I just say Cam, glad I found your channel. You have a great outlook and a good soul. I am a recovering drug addict, and I think you speak well about addiction. I'm living on Arran now, changed my life, and if you ever fancy a walk in the mountains, I'd love to join ya mate. Stay strong.
Thank you. Arran's a good place for recovery. I've not been in the hills this year yet - the old hips are playing up a bit, so I'm not wanting to push too hard.
May the Father continue to bless and sustain you
Thank you.
congratulations and cheers from Northern California brother. I am 2 days sober of ganja and tobacco. i rarely drink but i understand the struggle and appreciate your story and insight. beautiful tract and tracks brother!!
Greetings! Thanks for the kinds words.
Do any members on here even know the Traditions? In particular, Tradition 11. There. I've said my piece. [since June 16th 1992]
Thanks. That's a good length of sobriety. Keep it going!
Remaining right sized, acting humility in living. Thanks for the reminder. I am an artist and its actually hard to take compliments and get a fat head! I think I have the opposite problem of being to hard on myself but realize I DO have a fat head and catch myself at times looking down on certain folks, usually wealthy people and people in power who I perceive having no humility of all things!! Always doing their inventory so I have to watch that... LOL. Congrats on the Masonic Master position. I have always wanted to be a mason. Cheers from beyond the Cheese Curtain of Wisconsin!
I too got a bit confused by that quote of the 16th of March,.. I have to say that I don't see the meaning of "God" in relationship to M. A.
Thanks again for putting out there for us. I do the same-- of course. I just try not to verbalize it---just keep it in my head.
